Hot Asian

All these stamps apart from the daisy (Stamp Addicts) are from Non-Sequiter stamps. You know I love Asian. My favourite dragonflies are these ones. I added glossy accents to them to make them even more special. Had to have a steady hand to do them like this. The background is brayered with Kaleidacolor Desert Sun.

Yesterday I went out for lunch with my Mum and sister. It was sunny out and quite warm. No sooner had my sister applied suntan lotion when suddenly it turned quite cool. We looked up and could see the blue skies had totally disappeared only to be replaced by grey clouds as far as you could see. And the warmth was replaced by a very cool wind. The wind got so windy I thought my coffee was going to fly right out of the cup!

Never mind, I had a lovely weekend. Watched 'Annie Hall' and 'Manhatten' over the weekend, two of my favourite Woody Allen films. So many funny lines in those films, can I remember them now? Nope!

Dragonfly Screen

This large dragonfly is from Stamp Addicts but I have a feeling they only have the smaller size now as I looked for this big one and couldn't find it. Anyhow, I stamped it onto fusible film which has a nice irridescent sheen. I'm not entirely sure how to use fusible film properly as it didn't do too much when I ironed it, maybe I didn't have the iron hot enough, I don't know. It's something I need to experiment with more.

I wanted the dragonfly to look like it was against a Japanese screen so drew lines with a pastel pencil to get a soft look. The base card was done with a rollagraph marble patterned roller stamp and smooched with colorbox brown pigment ink. I love the bronze spiral clips but I can't remember where I got them from.

I like always to think about things to be grateful for, for which there are many, many things in my life. I love this quote

Asian Collage

It's a shame that this photo is not showing the glossy accents on these dragonflys as they look highly lacquered. I smooched chalks all over the background. The dragonflys and kanji are by Non-Sequitur stamps and daisy, ginko leaf and block kanji are by Stamp Addicts (called Carole's Cube). I added a few sprinkles of glitter here and there which are looking like black spots judging by this picturs.

I've been a bit lite this week on the stamping front. I'm just not in the creativity mood, and I guess in part it's because of the weather being so nice. Sometimes I'm full of ideas and then I just get a blank and I find it's best just to have a break till I get re-inspired.

Here's someone who always seems to be having a break ...

Looking miffed at being woken up but seems to think it's okay to wake me up every morning by running a sharp claw down the length of my nose!!!

Japanese Style

I used Stampin Up's Asian Artistry and Seeing Spots sets for this card. This is before I learned the stippling technique so I brayered the middle circle. As you can see I didn't do it too well and I don't have a perfect circle. But I still liked it :). I trimmed a couple of strips of black card and adhered them to give a different kind of embellishment that I thought complimented the Asian feel. Added some gloss to the bird - love that bird!

Here some more Penny Black images from the PaperCraft show. The cat with the flute caught my eye. Actually it was the card that I admired so much I had to buy the stamp! Whoever made that card is very good at cutting out as I looked at it close up and it's so perfect, I wonder if they did it with a craft knife. I'm thinking of getting Tim Holtz's craft knife as I need a good one to do work like this


I couldn't resist taking another picture of these cute cards. I asked the lady from Butterfly Kisses if it was okay to take pictures and she said it was. There is a lovely card at the back with a mouse and cherries - my friend bought that stamp!

The other pictures I have from the show are not very good - too many people in the way unfortunately. Next time they have the show (which will be 14 November), I will try and take better pictures, and more of them. We are thinking of going later on in the day when, hopefully, there won't be so many people.

Geisha cards

I wasn't going to blog today as I haven't made any new cards. But then I remembered I have this photo of two cards I made a few years ago so thought I would show them. It would be good if I could remember who the stamps were made by but I can't I'm afraid. Well the Kanji characters are from an Asian cube stamp by Judikins and that is still available from Stamp Addicts. Oh and the dragonfly brads are from Stamp Addicts too. I coloured the backgrounds using pastel chalks. Sorry it's a small photo but it should enlarge a bit if you click on it.

I'm all excited this morning as I put up my trusty old Cuttlebug up for sale on ebay yesterday and it has sold already! Well, it is a real bargain as I put it up as buy it now for £20 and included lots of dies and border embossing folders as well as new plates. I love bargains and feel good providing a bargain for someone else.

Tomorrow might well be a blog free day as I try and catch up with some card making.
