Birds in a cage

I love images of birds and birdcages.  I know the Tim Holtz birdcage die has been out for a few years now but I hadn't used it for awhile.

I used the lovely Coredinations Kraft Core card in teal for the background.  This card is great because the teal colour is layered over a natural kraft core and gives a perfect time-worn look which is great when you rub off the top layer with sandpaper.  Now rub is the wrong word but for the life of me I can't think of the right word!!!!  I'm having a blank right in the middle of my brain this morning!  I embossed it with a Cuttlebug embossing folder before taking that top layer of colour off, which then shows the kraft colour underneath.   I will be editing this paragraph soon with the right words!  The bird cage is die cut from white glossy card.  And the bird is also die cut from white glossy card but I went over it with alcohol inks.

In this next version I masked off the edges of the card and blended some distress inks directly onto the card.  The bird cage is die cut with silver mirror card.

And then another colour version with a speckly bird.  These birds are so cute.  All the sentiments are from Hero Arts clear stamps.

Today it is really cold outside and such a contrast to last week when it was really warm and sunny.  Nice thing about bad weather is I do more craft work so it can't be so bad.

Thanks for stopping by ......
